Budget X-band system for FPV platforms
A compact onboard module and ground station in the X-band, for FPV. Based on a modified WiFi stack (RunCam WiFiLink2 / OpenIPC), works with standard FPV equipment through an in-house UP converter. Range up to 20 km.
UVS Link is a budget X-band data link for FPV platforms. The onboard module is built on a modified RunCam WiFiLink2 with OpenIPC firmware, shifted into the X-band via an in-house UP converter. Signal from standard FPV modules (Caddx WiFiLink2 and compatible) passes through transparently, without re-encoding — keeping compatibility with the existing FPV ecosystem (goggles, OSD, settings).
Moving into X-band gives the main advantage: operators sit outside the primary attack vector of EW assets, which are deployed en masse against L/S/C bands. X-band jammers exist, but require significantly higher power and cost — so they’re deployed point-by-point rather than as continuous coverage.
The ground station uses a horn antenna or a 4-element patch array. Supports H.265 video at 720p and 1080p with adaptive bitrate of 6-12 Mbit/s — enough for operational FPV work. Optional WireGuard encryption is available for the telemetry channel.
